During the last sermon, we discussed on the topic "The Man that God will love” to learn and understand all the rudiments in coveting God’s love which will therefore becomes your shed of power in all sphere of life because when God loves you then be rest assured to experience his power in all ramification even without working much for it.

 Preamble:

This week, we shall be looking at the topic “Spiritual Corruption” to understand what it takes for your spirit to be corrupted since this is more or less a hidden phenomenon that manifest in the physical even sometimes with a latent benevolent glamour that seems to be real. Corruption in the spiritual is a very sensitive issue and has eaten deep through so many individual at all level either knowingly or unknowingly. When the spirit of a man is corrupted so many things will be negatively affected in his life, both physically and spiritually which will therefore determine the course of his action except God cleanse him and restore him back. Please sit back and enjoy this great lecture that will change your life forever.

Introduction:

Corruption as it was being defined by Oxford dictionary is a process of decay; protrefaction, in a thing, which also means a form of contamination that will necessitates the state of the decay. Spiritual corruption also, is not far from this as it involves a form of contamination in the spirit which will therefore produce a corresponding effect in the physical, knowing fully well that the spiritual realm control the physical world. When the spirit of a man is corrupted, he will begin to dance to the effect of such contamination which will then determine the course of his action and the dangerous thing about this is that it is always a hidden phenomenon that the individual might even not see anything wrong in his or her spiritual life and the devil who is the architecture of all these desire such self acclamation so that his ministry of stealing, killing and destroying will have a continuity [John 10: 10]. 

Contamination can be at any level and in any area of endeavor, it could be in the area of altitude, or lifestyle, or sexual libido or immorality, or idolatry, or drunkenness, or conversation, or desire, or an aberrant behavior [Galatians 5: 19-21] and it is the devil who is the chief maker that will orchestrate to induce such stain in the spirit of a man to satisfy his desire and which only comes through sin. Take for instance; a man that cannot take his eyes off woman until he goes down with them in bed, has a part of him corrupted with uncontrolled sexual libido as stated above which is therefore manifesting in the physical and it will take God and his effort to restore normalcy.

Our bible text [Ephesians 4: 22-23 KJV] states that “ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; and be renewed in the spirit of your mind.” This made us understand that, for those in the world and without Christ are living to gratify the desire of the flesh which is corrupt according to the deceitful lust and therefore admonish us to put off the former character or life style or conversations which are corrupt and be renewed in the spirit of our mind through the word of God because it is only the word with the knowledge of God and your effort in spiritual practice that can renew the state of your mind to cleanse out every contaminations or corruption in your spirit. 

The scripture [Psalm 119: 130] made us understand that the entrance of thy word giveth light and understanding unto the simple and likewise [John 1: 1-5] tell us that in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God and……….. in him was life and that life was the light of men, the light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it. The word of God is the light that will renew the state of your mind as explained above couple with your effort in appropriating spiritual practice like prayer, fasting, praise and worship.

The flesh is corrupt even with carnal desires since man has disobeyed God by partaking of the tree of knowledge of good and of evil which God had earlier commanded them against [Genesis 2: 17] and which is always in conflict with the spirit of man to gain control over his soul [Galatians 5: 17] in other to determine the course of his action. The corruption in the flesh is being managed and fully controlled by the devil but the adoption is controlled and accepted by the individual under the allurement of the devil and his cohorts because the devil can only lure you to making a decision through inner voice or advice from friend and family but will never make a decision for you since you are fully in charge of the power of your freewill [Proverb 16: 9]. This is the method the devil usually uses to sustain a just battle. 

When the spirit of a man has a form of contamination or being corrupt it will defile his holy garment and could be experiencing some difficulty in fellowshipping with God appropriately, this can happen to any man at any level because it comes through the flesh, we see the case of Joshua, the high priest, in the book of [Zachariah 3: 1-4] where he was standing infront of the lord with a filthy garment which is caused by sin, until the angel made a change of raiment on him. Let’s look at some causes of spiritual corruption or contaminations as we progress:

1. Fornication and Adultery;

This is one of the major causes of spiritual corruption or contaminations which could even be in very high degree because the bible made us understand that when two people mates together they become one flesh, no matter the circumstance, whether they are a believer or not, this is the mystery which God had put behind it [1 Corinthians 6: 15-20, Mark 10: 8,]. 

The flesh is a spirit with carnal desire and where all the contaminants and also the devil are dwelling. When a man engage in this act of fornication and adultery, the two involve will share whatever complications in their spirit which is the flesh since the two will become one in flesh as earlier explained and the devil who is presiding over such act of sin will chiefly decide what to share to satisfy his ministry of stealing, killing, and destroying and to allow for the continuity of such ministry in the life of the individual since God can never be present during this act of sin and so, it is the devil who chiefly preside over it and control what’s been shared.

Furthermore this act of fornication and adultery is prone to devilish initiation because it involves sex and since the bible says the two will become one, you don’t need a request to become part of that demonic society of your mate, once this act of sin has been engaged, automatically you are one with her in spirit and also bearing in mind that sex is a covenant of blood because it involve blood to blood contact, especially when it involve an agent of darkness who has the power to covet this covenanting ability of this act and hold it against you, this is why the bible say the two will become one, becoming one in flesh has so many spiritual justification or ground which God himself is in support of. 

The scripture above [1 Corinthians 6: 15-20 NIV] state that “do you not know that your body are member of Christ Himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it said, the two will become one flesh, but whoever is united with the lord is one with Him in spirit. Flee from sexual immorality, all other sin a person commit are outside the body, but whoever sin sexually sin against their own body. Do you not know that your bodies are temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have receive from God, you are not your own, you were bought at a price, therefore honor God with your body.” 

Another thing to note during this act of fornication and adultery is that because such height of disobedience to God’s commandments has been engaged as we have read above coupled with the fact that the temple of God within such individual had been displaced, then God said He will also destroy whoever destroy His temple, according to the book of [1 Corinthians 3: 17 NIV] which states that “if anyone destroy God’s temple, God will destroy that person, for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.” And because such level of disobedience has been committed, they are automatically under the curse of law [Galatians 3: 10-14]

2. Marriage:

This is one area the devil is using greatly to contaminate and corrupt the spirit of man because it’s involve a lifetime union even with a higher degree of oneness than fornication and adultery describe above. It is a journey of destiny and as such the devil does not joke with it. Marriage in its form is more spiritual because man is a very sensitive spiritual material which God had only used to actualize the purpose of His creation on earth and so, marriage involve two spirit coming together to become one and therefore every other worldly activities involve in marriage are only done to satisfy the will of man which is the power of freewill God had embedded in them and therefore a couple that is more awake spiritually in the lord will live a more healthy marriage life because everything that happen in life both good and bad is a manifestation of the spiritual, the bible also admonish us that to be carnally minded is death but to be spiritually minded is life and peace [Romans 8: 6].  

Marriage is not a place for kids but for the mature in spirit and mind. The devil is strongly attached to marriage because he knows this is the final junction for him and that if he fails at that junction then he had almost failed for life. This is why he makes sure he waits for his prey at that junction and the major plan is to have your soul first after which he decide what to do with it. The implication involve in marriage as regard the contamination or corruption in the spirit is more greater than the fornication and adultery describe above because God said He hate divorce [Malachi 2: 16] and also, for better, for worse agreement has been initiated even in the presence of the lord and so, the couple are bound for life. 

This is why the devil loves this arena of marriage so much because he knows once he had succeeded in having his daughter or his son whom are his agent duly involved in the marriage then his assignment or mission is assured. The devil does all at his disposal to make sure his agent whom are his daughter or son hide under the shadow of righteousness on sheep’s clothing even in the church or in any form of altar service [Mathew 7: 15, 1 John 4: 1-4] and seriously pretend to be the light, so they can successfully gain the entrance into the marriage without the knowledge of the spouse and it is only God that can reveal this deep revelation that doesn’t come cheaply most time, to reveal the plan of the devil and his cohort, this is why it is ultimately required and of high importance to stand firm with Christ and be sure of your standing so He can help reveal this deep secrete.

The spiritual contamination or corruption in this regards happen when a person has finally gave in, knowingly or unknowingly to that agent of the devil through marriage and this may not fully occur until series of sexual intercourse has been initiated. Corruption or contaminations in the spirit does not mean the individual might not be rich or comfortable because the devil also give riches as he deem fit but to first of all, have their soul to himself then later decide what he want to do with it and be rest assure that no matter what, his aim of killing, stealing, and destroying which serve as his major function on earth will be happening secretly to the individual even as from that early hour [John 10: 10]. So be watchful! 

Another thing you need to know is that the devil will always prefer to have his agent closer to you and most preferably the one which you will love so that his ministry of stealing, killing and destroying can be easily fetched. This is why our lord Jesus Christ rebuked that he who love his mother or father or brother or sister or wife or friend more than Him is not worthy of Him [Matthew 10: 37] because He knows fully well that your heart will be where your love is and likewise, this is why God gave us His first commandment which serve as the greatest among all that, love the lord thy God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind [Matthew 22: 37-38]. Beloved, when we love God above everything imaginable on earth then we will begin to see him in action over our case. Trust me!

Let me also list out the expected effect to be manifested outwardly as a result of the above causes:

1. The inability or difficulty to serve and worship God at best.

2. The act of flesh according to Galatians 5: 19-21

3. Improper flow of anointing 

4. Blockage to prayer

5. Difficulty in exercising spiritual practice even at the required hour 

6. Mix reaction or feeling towards God

7. Difficulty towards hearing from God

8. Difficulty towards full submission to God

9. Difficulty in overcoming the flesh 

10. Entrance to an ungodly dream life

11. Demonic oppression

12. Gluttony 

Freedom:             [John 8: 36, Colossian 1: 13-14, Romans 6: 22-23]

Freedom is a choice because it has to go along with your will, faith and seal to be freed, even if your pastor prays for you and you are set free from your bondage, if you don't develop a strong seal and will to continue in that freedom in other to always quench that habit or attitude that would have always and easily entangled you and put you in such bondage, you will definitely fall back to your bondage. Freedom is of God because its comes only through the shedding of the blood of Jesus Christ who laid down His life as a sacrifice to erase the sin of the world through which all the above stated curses has emanated from, but there is one simple fact that needs to be known. For you to be free, there must be a fight even with those strong men that has held you in slavery for so long and because you have Christ with you, victory is assured [John 8: 36].

Confession: 

If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your lord and saviour and you are convinced that you need him to come into your life so you can also tap into the grace available through shedding of his blood, and equally partake of the effectiveness of his wrath and the blessing that comes with it, and that you are sure, you are ready to repent from all those sin of fornication, adultery, lying, sexual immorality, pride, jealousy, hatred, idolatry, selfish ambition, witchcraft, impurity and debauchery, dissensions, envy, drunkenness, orgies and the likes, then locate a quiet place, be sober and be on your knees, and make this little confession but remember to be sure of what you are doing, so that you will not be using God to play, when you respect him and give him honour, he will also honour you in the sight of men (Matthew 6: 6).

Lord Jesus, i come with total humbleness of heart to ask for forgiveness of my sins and accept you as my lord and saviour, please forgive me of all my sin (you can begin to name them if you know them) I surrender my life to you and i want you to come and take full charge over my life and i accept you as my lord and my saviour, please cleanse me with your blood that you shed on the cross and make me a new man leaving old things behind, I promise to serve you and do your will at all time and i ask for the strength to carry on. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for saving me.
